Mobile Applications
Mobile Applications provide a richer and more interactive experience. These menu-driven applications provide a deeper library of content and information which is stored in the mobile phones' memory.
Additionally these mobile applications have the capability of supporting clever features such as scrolling pages, data capture fields, "click-2-sms" competition registration and "click-2-call" functions.
Typically, mobile applications can include:
- Menu options linking to various pages within the application
- Free mobile content to download
- Premium mobile content view/download
- Links to mobile internet sites and WAP sites
- Click to call (eg call centres or sales desk)
- Click to SMS (eg enter competition, build a database of mobile numbers)
- M-commerce functionality
In most cases the Mobile application itself is free to the consumer and can be download via:
- Wi-Fi or Bluetooth®: the user can choose to accept the invitation from the WiFi/BlueZone hotspot. Once downloaded the application will self install and then reside on the phone
- SMS: the user sends an SMS, then receives back a message containing a link that will direct them via GPRS/3G to the download page
- Email/Web site: Android users can download the application from an email or a website however iPhone can only download via the AppStore
- Mobile internet: The user can key in the URL address (eg get.mobileapp.com.au) into a mobile browser which will take them to a webpage where they can then to initiate the download process
